MAAS Early Career Scholarship
Award Amount: $3,500 annual award
Purpose
The MAAS Early Career Scholarship is established to promote, advocate for, and advance the field of Allergy & Immunology by supporting medical students and residents who demonstrate a strong commitment to our specialty.
This scholarship aims to invest in early career trainees who show leadership potential, academic curiosity, and a dedication to improving patient care in allergic, immunologic, and related disorders. By supporting the next generation of clinicians, researchers, educators, and advocates, we seek to strengthen and diversify the future workforce of Allergy & Immunology.
Funds may be used to support:
Medical school tuition or educational expenses
Research projects (basic, translational, or clinical)
Community outreach and public health initiatives
Advocacy or policy efforts related to allergic and immunologic disease
Educational programming or scholarly activity
Conference attendance or academic development activities
Commitment to Inclusion and Equity
The Allergy Association is committed to fostering a diverse, equitable, and inclusive professional community. We encourage applications from individuals of all backgrounds, including those from groups historically underrepresented in medicine, first-generation medical trainees, and those who have demonstrated commitment to serving medically underserved or marginalized populations.
Selection is based on merit, dedication to the specialty, and demonstrated impact.

Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must:
Be currently enrolled in an accredited U.S. medical school or be a resident physician in an accredited U.S. training program.
Demonstrate a clear interest in pursuing or promoting a career in Allergy & Immunology.
Be in good academic and professional standing.
Submit a complete application by March 31st, 2026.

A personal statement (maximum 750 words) describing:

Career goals
How the scholarship funds will be used
Commitment to advancing the specialty or serving diverse communities
One letter of recommendation from a faculty mentor or program director
Selection Criteria
Applications will be evaluated based on:
Demonstrated commitment to Allergy & Immunology
Leadership potential and initiative
Academic and professional development
Community engagement or advocacy
Quality and feasibility of proposed use of funds
Award Administration
One or more awards of $3,500 may be granted annually to individuals.
Funds will be distributed directly to the awardee.
Recipients may be invited to present their work or provide a brief impact report to the Association within one year of receiving the award.
